Where Pinball Wizards Meet in NYC

Just hearing the word evokes The Who's, Pinball Wizard:
Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall...
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball !
The Who may have been referring to London's SOHO, but here in New York, just a little further north of our own SOHO, there is a new game in town, thanks to Modern Pinball NYC.

It is more than just an arcade, it's a passion for Pinball! It is part arcade, part pinball showroom (they have machines for sale).  You can keep your quarters at home, because they have a new concept that allows you to pay-one-price for admission, for unlimited games. You can pay for half an hour ($7.50), by the hour ($10/hour), or stay for the whole day ($20 day pass).

There are classic games available, as well as themed pinball games are right out of the world of entertainment: Avengers, Metallica, The Wizard of Oz (no relation to the Pinball Wizard), Family Guy, X-Men (Magneto), AC/DC, IRON MAN, Star Trek, and more.

Why we are watching this Small Business:
• New Yorkers have already proven that "new takes" on bowling and ping-pong can attract crowd.

• It is a destination for pinball enthusiasts, as well as family fun

• The owners, Steve Epstein and Steve Zahler, are passionate about it. Steve Epstein is co-founder of a large pinball competitive group called the International Flipper Pinball Association and the Professional and Amateur Pinball Association, which hosts some of the world's largest pinball tournaments. • At Modern Pinball, Mr. Epstein and Mr. Zahler say they attract up to 100 customers a day and bring in about $3,500 a week in revenue, which is on par with their early expectations. (credit The Wall Street Journal article, Pinball Bounces Back in New York City, written by Charles Passy)

Check them out and show them you can play a mean pinball!
